A guy I used to buy cattle from did this. He always had a Padron in his mouth but never set fire to it. He went through 4-5 a day, only now do I realize how big of a waste that was.

When I was a kid one of my friend's dads did this. I have no idea what kind of cigars he was chewing on, but he never lit them up. I think he started doing this when he gave up smoking.

After I quit smoking cigs I was at a casino playing craps so I got a cigar and was chewing on it gambling, after a couple times there (same routine each time) I decided to fire it up, Para BL ... and here I am sliding down this slope like I'm on rocket skis

There's a guy that comes into the shop I work at about once a month, buys a box of Fuente Flor-a-Fina 8-5-8 Maduros. Chews on the end, cuts it off, and keeps chewing till the cigars gone.

Wow, I didn't know this was even remotely common practice, seems like a huge waste to me. My Dad gnaws on the flavored plastic tips of Black n Milds, but that I don't really consider that a waste, a Padron or Fuente though, why?

I guess if someone enjoys chewing them enough to buy them, then more power to them. Chew what you like, like what you chew.

Ditto! My best friend's dad did this for years. And he NEVER spit out the juice. Just swallowed it and moved on!!!! My father (Claude's best friend) finally convinced him to switch to chewing tobacco. Claude then chewed a rope brand (I want to say King B??), but as before, always swallowed the juice. I swallowed Red Man juice once on accident..... Yeah, that went poorly!!!

I think Claude chewed King Edward cigars.

My father chews on the head while smoking the cigar. He likes big fat cigars like the Gloria Cubana Series R Maduro. I think it adds a strong nicotine buzz like chew tobacco along with the smoke.

If I'm going to stick a cigar in my mouth, I'm going to smoke it.

The only possible exception would be one that had been Lewinskied, but even then it would depend on the cigar.

An older co-worker of mine does this. He's an old farmer so it doesn't suprise me. I only chew on the nubs after I'm done with them.

I used to chew on my cigars something awful while I was smoking them. So bad that they'd get all slobbered up and go out at the halfway mark. Then I'd just keep chewing on them, especially when I was working.
It's taken a lot of effort to quit being such a hog, and I only did it so I could let other guys try my cigar. I can't say I'm happier for the change, I really liked it. Maybe I'll revert someday.
FYI, good cigars taste just as good chewing on them as they smoke. And they last all day if you can stand it. It's not remotely a waste of money, it's actually a far better value if I can smoke it for an hour then chew on it for another 5 or 6.

This is what I'd do ... and end up cutting the slobbered up part and go back to chomping on them, they are very flavorful and last all day, the thing is you end up getting a sore throat from them (well I did because I just started doing it) the next day it would feel like a pit in my throat because of it .. so I said **** it and just started smoking them.....cause im smOrT!

I've come across several individuals that didn't light up. One of the guys that I play poker with and an individual that didn't use chewing tobacco but would bite a quarter inch off the end of a cigar that he kept in his pocket and chew on it for a while. I also came across an engineer that operated between Chicago and Clinton IA that would start his run by putting a cigar in his mouth and leave it there for the entire run. It was down to a nub by the end and I never saw him spit.

I have a great uncle that does this. He has done this for as long as I can remember. He chews King Edward or something like that not expensive. I think he used to light them when he was younger though.

Likely to the day long chewer, it's serving as an oral Nicotine patch. I don't mind seeing that. Watching someone smoke a plastic electronic cigarette that has no N at all I think is a little weird. I understand it... I just mean..would you walk around smoking a plastic cigar? Don't want to take the conversation there.. Just personally, If in that position, I would also rather just chew an unlit cigar as well..

no- and I think that the practice is highly discouraged for health reasons- " AS LONG AS you don't inhale or chew your cigar etc."

I have a cigar in my mouth a couple days a week on the train coming in and out of the office. I see 5 or 6 guys a day doing the same. :sh

I don't chew on it, but I will put a cut one in my mouth at work sometimes and just draw on it to get the "essence" of the tobacco. Usually right before I go out to smoke it during lunch or after work, but occasionally during a busy day I've sucked and chewed on a bundle cigar all day then tossed it.

No, I do not and it signifies a bad habit, like excessive nail biting. I want to smoke a cigar, not suck a binky.

I had a boss that did it years ago. He was an older gentleman with doctors orders not to smoke. I don't recall what brand, come to think of it, I never saw a band on them. Nothing wrong with skirting the rules a bit for some good leafy flavor.

I have never chewed them but the sports writer for our local paper used to chew on his cigars. Always had his shirt pocket stuffed with them too. Never saw him light one up though.

I've never chewed one, but the guy that runs our B&M always smokes about an inch off a cigar then chews on the rest of it all day long.

I don't get it... But if that's what he likes, who is anyone else to judge.

All I can think about is all the raw beetle eggs they are eating. Doesn't seem quite as bad when they are cooked :)

I'll "chew" on stick for a couple hour before I actually light it depending on what my plans are that day. I do enjoy the cold draw!

I only do this when fishing but only after I have smoked the first 2/3 of the stick, let it go out, and I just want to continue enjoying it for a while after.
