And they won the game in Baton Rouge, they didn't BEAT anybody. They survived LSU. :D But I would agree that the only settlin' it is gonna be in Atlanta, and then one is still gonna feel ripped off after that. I like Alabama, but more cause they are my backup team and I hate Florida. They are under-skilled in almost every area compared to florida, but I like what Saban does with talent more. Look at what he had at QB over a few years at LSU, no one who went on to be thought of as great. He won two champs with three different, variously under-skilled QBs. |

That has slacked off while CBS catches back up with MS state and Vandy games, lol. PERSONALLY, I think that bama and Florida are both going to self-destruct, allowing the Bengals from down da bayou to walk into the sweet spot. :) |

Lots of people are talking about if bama and fl could possibly see a rematch with each other in the BCS title game (no way that happens imo). A much more interesting scenario is if LSU and Florida both win out. LSU and FL would both have 1 loss, to each other. BCS title game rematch would be the perfect tie breaker. Would never happen, but its interesting. |

The officiating crew from the FL-Arkansas game has been suspended for 3 games by the SEC.

Well thank goodness for that. Who were they workng for, the BCS? Or CBS?

I was thinking that Bama does not play Florida, reg season. I think that's right. So LSU beats Bama, (in Tuscaloosa :) ) LSU beats Fla in title game and Bama and LSU play for it all? Interested to know who you see Nat Champ game featuring. And even more, who do you see advancing to face LSU in that scenario. Have any ideas? |
Re: Official SEC Football Thread 2009
Lets not forget the ultimate spoiler, Arkansas. I really think they are going to demolish some teams in the
years to come. They could play a key role, with all the other teams faltering slightly, i.e a hot UGA being beat up in a few tough matches, USC kind of jehrking off, LSU looking rather mortal, Auburn being eyed out of the corner of our eyes aas a comer, then...well, juries out on that one yet. Arkansas has her nose in the wind and climbing. |

Re: Official SEC Football Thread 2009
I don't know if it will be this week (although I'm hoping the Vols beat the Tide), but I'd be surprised if Bama and the Gators both finished the season undefeated. The SEC is just soooo friggin' tough week in week out. I admit I haven't looked at the remaining schedules for either team.

Re: Official SEC Football Thread 2009
I don't think Bama's scaring anybody, that's their problem. Florida certainly has proven to be
less than terrorizing. Problem is, they keep winning. Hopefully "officials on the verge of a nervous breakdown 2009" will level the playing field just in time. Funny to hear local sportscasters talk as if most of them take for granted an unofficial-official scheme to keep undefeateds undefeated. Sounds a little far fetched to me, but wherever money is involved, look out. I have been outspoken about officiating, but I thought it was incompetence and home field bias working into the calls. |

Oh it's an excellent point, I just prefer the Tide so I give em cover. Of course me pullng for them is not
a good endorsement by any means, lol. I am trying not to reduce the SEC season to that at this point, however. I want it to last as long as it can, cause it's over so fast. Then I have yard work on Saturdays. I hopefully have quite a few joys and pains left watching LSU. I hope Auburn doesn't re-animate from the grave on us tonight. |

Re: Official SEC Football Thread 2009
I guess that potential undefeated SEC Championship matchup is still a possibility. Alabama defense looked great until the last 5 minutes of the game.
|
Re: Official SEC Football Thread 2009
I watched the first half of the Tenn/Bama game and thought the Vols looked pretty prime for an upset. I missed the entire second half but caught the last :04 on the radio. I was really hoping they made the kick. :(
Must have been a heck of an effort, especially playing at Bama. |

Mississippi State giving the Gators more than they bargained for so far.

LOL One game (hopefully soon), Bama's offensce is going to figure out how to stick the football into the endzone from inside the 20!!! Until then, I'm thinking most our games left are going to be nail biters. We didn't play like a number one ranked team. BUT, it still goes into the WIN catagory! |

Once again, good enough to hold on counts for a win in the era of field goal football in this year's SEC. Luckily Bama had a tough outing as well, or I would be up for another week of the same crap, lol. |
Re: Official SEC Football Thread 2009
I am not sure if it is good or not, for the SEC, where you have these stalemate games involving the "No. 1 teams", all playing
to field goal 'draws'. Over simplification, to be sure, but it's more nail biting than I really can stand. I like to think I have a bad heart, lol. It's good at this stage of the game to still have so much unknown and yet to play for. I know my ability to be interested in the outcome of other rival's games and to pull for them in some cases has widened my enjoyment of it as a whole. Florida being within the reach of three teams over three huge games has just been great for me personally. The letdowns were all tough for all the teams that had to be on the losing end of such efforts. Nice way of saying the bastards all let me down. |

Re: Official SEC Football Thread 2009
Throw the record books out the window gentlemen. The showdown b/w UF and UGA in Jacksonville is gonna be a knock-down drag out.
Georgia has a lot of motivation w/Meyer's time outs last year (:r) and has the advantage of the underdog card. There chance is to shut down UF's TE Hernandez and WR Cooper, the only receiving threats thus far, hope Tebow continues his poor play and somehow mange to score against UF defense, rated #1 in total defense. My thoughts? Florida gets over there recent reptile dysfunction on offense, lights it up, and begins to roll on their way to Hotlanta! UF 42 UGA 10 http://i612.photobucket.com/albums/t...067_890556.jpg that'll be my ride in Jax :tu |
Re: Official SEC Football Thread 2009
Reptile dysfunction...heheh:D
Florida is facing a buzzsaw in UGA that has to be psycholgically wearing, not knowing if your team will show up again and maybe someone FINALLY learns to score some POINTS and take a game from the Gators. I had to endure a SEASON of hanging on in games for LSU, but they maintained and made it all the way. UGA has nothing to lose and some dynamite players. Not just nothing to lose, but a feeling that they are much better than thier record would show to the casual observer. Great game coming. Ole Miss and Auburn is even scarier, cause BOTH these teams have to win. No question about it. Auburn is under less pressure, but starting 5-0, they KNOW how costly a slide is just like UGA. But the real slider is Ole Miss, a season of mis-use of tools and playmakers. They were a real-time fluke, but on paper they are phenomenal and deserved to be considered a sure thing at the start of the season. The same setup for disappointment as a Playboy poll. But the QB is in his "sick period" or something, they were always trying to force Dexter McCluster into the middle when he is an edge-hitter. A strong offensive line even with the loss of an All-American to the NFL. But they can't play. I mean they MIGHT. AUBURN MIGHT. But one of these teams comes up more of a loser than a regular loser. Tennessee and USC, I hope I get to see that, if not LSU. This should also be interesting with TN finding a QB, maybe. Kid was number 2 in the country out of high school but he was one who couldn't play either, Jonathan Crompton. USC I have NO idea about. Don't get to see em. |
Re: Official SEC Football Thread 2009
Georgia is no cake walk for Florida, especially the way their (Florida's) offense has underperformed the last couple weeks. Hoping for a break out week for them.
