In general, I agree that remakes pretty much suck. But there have been notable exceptions. Both the Batman and James Bond francises have benefitted in the recent past . . . at least in my opinion.

That being said, as for Top Gun 2 . . . pass.

And Jennifer Connelly made a nice addition. The admirals daughter "Penny" was a single throwaway line in the original. A cool little easter egg hatched decades later.

And it won one Oscar for best sound. Gaga should have won for best song but I'm prejudiced.

Excepting for the combat/training scenes, I thought it was lame. Rehashed the same plot lines with different characters. (People make fun of a person, who turns out to be their instructor.) There were 4 or 5 plot lines that were complete rehashes of the original. Boo. Let the flaming/mocking begin.:r

Top Gun is my lady's (IBQTEE1) all time favorite movie, and even she was disappointed with the sequel.

Watched TG2 on Prime today. The story was a little too close to the original, but the action scenes in the planes were really cool. Jennifer Connelly is smoking hot still. Overall I’d give it a :tu
