Re: Christmas/holiday blends?
I actually enjoy McClelland's Holiday Spirit. An over-the-top aromatic just sort of fits in with the season for me.

Re: Bad Idea?
Mario Grandis come with pre-carbonized bowls so it already has a thin protective barrier in place. Just smoke it and enjoy it and if it starts to gurgle shove a pipe cleaner down the bit to soak up...

Re: Fantasy Football
I've been lucking out on the match-ups so far this season but that can't hold for long. I'm in fourth place but second from last in total points scored. Go figure. Losing Ryan Grant in week 1...

Re: Fantasy Football
I was cursed with having my #1 RB go down for the year at the same time my WRs kicked butt so I had an awful waiver wire priority and am now looking at a roster of RBs that couldn't run through a...

Re: Ohio State Buckeyes - 2010
Make the most of this cake-walk year as the impending realignment is not too favorable. Hold off Penn State and Wisconsin next year and get rewarded by playing Nebraska for the conference...

Re: Fantasy Football
The real trick will be remembering that the draft's at 5PM (my time) on Labor Day. Might have to drag the laptop to a BBQ/Football party -- that'll earn me some points, won't it?

Re: English Blend Lovers
I would nominate Dunhill's My Mixture 965 as a touchstone English blend with GL Pease's Westminster being the contemporary heir apparent. That being said, my most smoked English/Balkan is...

Re: Whats in your bowl?
I tried some GH Sweet Rum Twist in a no-name apple today and lived to tell about it. I guess all the cigars have prepared me for the stronger pipe tobaccos.

The Fast Running Zombies are back! Thanks for simplifying the roster and rules this year -- last season made my head hurt.

Re: Same Shape Pipes
For me it's the Savinelli #313 shape. It's a Prince with about a 1/8th bend and I'll pretty much buy any that I stumble across.

Re: CA Fantasy Football
Ouch. Mario Manningham's out of bounds big toe cost me the win. Of course it didn't help that most of the rest of my team sucked it up big time. Oh well.

It's all part of the big Bobby Bowden send-off. Just be glad that his team isn't in the national title hunt like Nebraska was in Tom Osborne's last year or the press would likely name them national...

Re: RYOs reinvented as pipe tobacco the taxes!
I don't know about you guys but most kids I know are most certainly tobacco free so I think we should laud Mr. Myers for a job well done and he can then find a new campaign to work on. Idjit.

Re: Peeking down the pipe slope, about to jump.
I average about 10 pipefuls per ounce for a cost of around 31 cents per bowl. So if you can stay disciplined (good luck) it is much cheaper than cigars. Make sure you're getting Missouri Meerschaum...

Re: 1 year ago
I still enjoy the occasional cigar but for me it's been primarily pipes for the past few years. At an average of $0.30 per hour-long smoke it sure is easier on the pocketbook than cigars ever were.

Re: Must have pipe accessories?
I can get by perfectly well with a Bic lighter, an actual roofing nail for a tamper/pick, and some pipe cleaners.
As for pipes I really like Savinellis but also own Petersons and Stanwells. I'm a...
