You can simply mix 2 blends into one bowl and smoke it and you will get a combination of the flavors, but you will get a much better marriage of flavors by making a mix and allowing it to sit...

:tpd: If you added some new sticks to the humi that would account for the spike. If not then I would also suggest drying out the beads and then placing them back in the humi to allow them to soak up...

You will have a tighter draw with a punch, so it's good for cigars with notoriously lose draws. I find that a smoke will last longer with a punch instead of a cut.
