In my tower I have 4 pounds on the floor. 1 pound on each shelf for boxes , and a 2oz stick in each compartment of the singles drawer....

Simple both Boveda packs and HF beads can hold a consistent RH. Both add and subtract water from the air. It would look bad if they just showed how much more quickly HF beads do so. HCM beads doing...

The salts would have to be washed off. Otherwise they would only release humidity until the salts setpoint. There was no excess to absorb initially.

Yep. HCM beads. Also be sure to check your humidor for leaks. Out of curiosity whats your ambient RH? If its high it can raise the RH of a leaky humidor well past what the gel would do on its own....
