I thought about it, but I really want to buy something chambered in a caliber I already own, so .380 is out.
I've heard great things about the XDS too, just need to see how it feels in hand.

I got my kimber eclipse pro II for under a grand at Shoot Straight here in WPB. Love that gun, ultra reliable, and easy on the eyes.

Carried one in my patrol car for a couple years, shot it quarterly. Really nice to shoot but a little more work to maintain than the AR15 for the average cop. Lots of little pieces seemed to get lost...

Check your fire codes as well, many apartments aren't allowed to have open flames on patios and balconies, which eliminates charcoal and propane. I have a Weber Q140 that's all electric, works great...
