Help with stem replacement

A good friend of mine gave me a no name pipe. It has a good size bite hole near the bit. Can you buy a replacement stem? I've seen some on ebay, how would you take measurement for this?

Many pipe shops used to do replacement stems but with all the different styles and sizes out there I can't find any near me that still do it. I believe there is a place or two you can mail it off too for replacement. If you can figure out the size try ordering from here http://vermontfreehand.com/stems/ as they seems to have a nice variety.
