I know we have a new inmate here that is a M1A1 driver and am curious. A-10 Warthog vs a first line Soviet made tank... Which would come out on top?

The Warthog flies slightly faster and higher than an Abrams.

This is the A-10's advantage indeed. I don't know the specs of soviet tanks exactly but I know it has a vertical elevation limit on it's main gun so attacking it from the air is preferred. That 30 mm gatling gun is BA also.
The sight package on our Abrams is pretty advanced so that we can see them first. The Abrams can carry more "big" bullets than the A-10 so there's that. Overall, I'm glad the A-10's are on our side. Good post Rob |

Yep - interesting that the A-10 is one of the best aircraft in the world for what it was designed for. Even Washington lobbyists couldn't put it to rest in favor of spending billions on a successor. Perfect example of "if it ain't broke"...

The Warthog will kick the Tanks A-- every time!
it can almost hug the ground, making it very hard to shoot at. It can hit with a missile but me thinks the pilots love to use the .30mm Gatling Gun Best. What Fun!!!
