Default Retro fridge conversion

having storage issues even while I have a cabinet, 3 coolers and 2 desktops I had to look for something else. After seeing converted fridges like at my buddy Frans's mencave and the awesome Partagas fridge Keith (Big Ash) made I decided to go that route.

So I went on marktplaats, which is the Dutch version of graigslist I guess and got myself a 50's style retro frigde

The frdge

The inside before conversion

the cooling parts and the engine of the fridge will be removed so the fridge can sit straight on the wall

The inside stripped, the humidor will be humidified with the Hydra LG

I'll keep the door intact and will use the build in trays for humidity beads

removed the cooler parts and the engine, as the finished humidor needs to go to the first floor that is very helpfull, most of the weight is gone now

This is the electronics that got removed

There will be 16 drawers installed, a hydra LG, humidity beads, led lighting and I am looking for a paintbrusher to paint the fridge. My idea is a scene from a tobacco field on the bottom with a blue sky, that blue sky will fade into a Nicaraguan flag.

The tray system looks awesome ! The clear works good with the interior.

Don't know how crazy you want to get. But if you are considering such an eccentric scene painted on the outside, don't forget, you can get that handle chromed. There's lot's of rechroming shops online. Another option is a powdercoating service. Just throwing the idea out there. I can see already it is going to be great regardless.

That is a good idea, I'll have to check out how much that will set me back but it would be a nice finishing touch

I do cars and I know that it is the little details that fool the eye to think all is brand new. I had a bracket chromed it was small, fit in my hand. It was like $50 to have done. But it was years ago. Just for laughs if you get the exact make and model and google you may find a replacement handle. But it may be cheaper to chrome yours. There are shops for powder coating too. The paint is put on a different way, electrically, it is very chip resistant. I think you could probably get that powder coated cheap as well.

Pardon my input, just that it would be out a few weeks so the time to consider restoring the handle is before you load it with cigars. Good Luck whatever you decide.
