Chillin in the Aging Room
|
Okay it's not a coolidor, it's a Rubbermaid 18 gallon storage tote. With beads in it, it is holding humidity beautifully with about 5 boxes inside. Bought it for storing/aging boxes because my two other humidors don't have the room to hold them. After a thorough cleaning I'm wondering if there is a way to get rid of the rubbery stank, that is inside, and if it affects the cigars. Anyone have any experience or thoughts in this matter?

Rubbing alcohol works great. Wash it once or use a baking soda mixture, rinse and dry. Wipe the inside down with rubbing alcohol, then wipe it down with distilled water. Worked for me.

That's what I dun did. Worked great. I also stuffed it full of old cigar boxes along with the beads to get it seasoned properly.

My easiest solution has been to let it sit (open) in the sunlight for a day or so. Of course, you have to have sunlight, which has been in low supply around here lately!!
