| Grateful to the 11 | Is Pipe Tobacco Generally Milder than Cigars?

Maybe its just the way I'm doing it, but so far the pipe tobacco that I've tried seems VERY mild compared to cigars. I've been smoking mostly maduro & sungrown cigars (Padron 1926, Ashton Aged Maduro, King B, etc) and they all seem to have more of a kick to them. The pipe tobacco I've tried has been limited to a local B&M cherry blend, a Mac Baren Virginia Flake and a Stanwell Vanilla ribbon cut. Anyone else have similar experiences?

Yep, I can't taste pipe tobacco. My B&M has a blend that's pretty much all perique and latakia, and I still can't get any flavor out of it at all.

Maybe try an English Blend. I started out smoking aromatics, and they always smelled good but the smoke was thin... or very mild. Taking a smaller draw, very small light puffs, and smoking slower may help you pick up more flavor. The pipe is different from a cigar (IMO) in the sense that your smoking technique can make a BIG difference in a tobaccos flavor. |

Thanks for your recommendations, Johnny. I'm glad to hear that there is more life to many tobaccos than I've experienced so far. I'll definitely try some of your recommended tobaccos (and some of RevSmoke's blends from another thread)!
