That night my father went into renal failure and I spent way too much time watching the news in the hospital for the next few weeks awaiting the end.

I was home sick from school that day. I got a call from my dad (who was working for a "prime target" electrical utility at the time) saying he was coming home and would be working from home for the next few weeks. It all seemed so fake - I had a lot of trouble believing what was happening (and even more trouble understanding the meaning/repercussions at 13).

Never, ever forget.

I remember that day like it was just yesterday... I remember watching the second plane hit live on CNN before going to school that day and was just in shock. I know I will never forget

Many FDNY, NYPD and other first responders, debris removal crews, cleanup workers ect., post collapse were exposed to Asbestos and a host of other toxins during rescue and cleanup. Many died because of exposure, many suffer today, and they won't be forgotten
