I'm not saying that the Saints defense is great but when your defense is good enough to keep the other team out of the endzone and giving your high powered offense a shorter field, then you will probably win most of your games.

That was evidenced by the Colts as well.
They kept the Ravens and Rice to 3 points and out of the end zone.
Any points by Indy beyond a fourth one were for fun as weren't necessary to win. Indy could have won with a touchdown and saved some for next week thanks to their defense.
