| Not a puffer | Getting 2 Dell laptop screens repaired under insurance claim

I purchased 2 Dell laptops in January and both of the screens cracked on me. Last fall, I took out an electronics policy with my homeowner's coverage to the tune of $19/year to cover stuff with a $50 deductible. Obviously, they're not covered under my Dell Warranty due to the physical cause. Anyway, I called to make the claim today and the insurance company is just going to issue me a check for the purchase price in January minus the deductible rather than me taking them to have screens replaced. I could probably get new screens online and replaced for $250-$300 shopping around a bit. But they're cutting me a check for almost $950 without any proof of purchase price or anything showing the screens are indeed cracked. |

I had the same thing when I traveled with my laptop and cameras.

Dude with that check, you can just purchase 2 more laptops and sell the older ones on ebay as parts.

I'm going to get replacement screens and repair them. They're only 7 months old and work just fine. If they were 3 years old, I'd probably get replacements.
