You never know, he may be a new minor leaguer moving up in the ranks.

A 2013 rotation consisting of Dickey/Santana/Niese/Harvey/Wheeler (maybe) would be actually intimidating. Too bad the lineup is Wright, Davis and 7 ?'s.

Kevin. I can't understand why the Mets ownership isn't ponying up the funds to resign Dickey. It's not like he's asking for a ton. His numbers are better then Grienkes in the past two years, granted he's older...but he only wants a three year deal around $ 13-15 million a year. This is the same group that signed Oliver Perez to 3 years, $ 36 million. He's a knuckleballer and has been healthy the past three years. With the Mets pitching issues...to me, this a no brainer. If we can pick up d'Arnaud or J.P. Arencibia, in addition to outfielder Anthony Gose...it makes sense. We pick up a catcher and a centerfielder. But we still need to address pitching issues...both starters and the bullpen.

Totally agree, Mac. Aside from the no hitter, Dickey was the lone bright spot on the 2012 Mets. I'm not exactly sure what Alderson has done right. Trading Pagan for Torres? I'm not crazy about Pagan, but I'd say the Mets got a nickel on the dollar in that trade. It's super cheap and petty to trade Dickey away after winning the Cy Young. I know we need young talent, but this catching prospect has had knee surgery - not really a great sign, is it?

Another typical Mets move. At least we aren't trading him for another "over the hill" free agent.

It's official...Toronto acquired Dickey, catcher Josh Thole and Minor League catcher Mike Nickeas in the seven-player trade that was announced Monday evening. The Mets received top catching prospect Travis d'Arnaud, right-hander Noah Syndergaard, catcher John Buck and Minor Leaguer Wuilmer Becerra. Not sure how I fell about this. If Toronto had thrown in Anthony Gose, I might be a little happier. We fixed the catching problem...but lost an already depleted pitching staff and still haven't addressed the centerfield position.

I was all for the Mets trading Dickey. Let's face it, the Mets are more than a few years away from being a serious contender, and at 38 years old, Dickey, more than likely, won't be a part of any Met team that makes it deep into the playoffs. That said, when I heard the extension he signed was for 2 yrs 25 million, I had to wonder WTF they were doing. I had heard rumors of the extension he wanted in the 4 yr 48 million dollar range. Figured he'd get 3 @ 34 with a 4th year mutual option, which would be more than a fair price for the Mets to pay. At 2 years 25 mil, Dickey is a steal.

True!! It's not like he was asking for the farm. And the Mets gave that up for basically a cathing prospect. Yet again, Mets leadership proves it hasn't got a clue.

From Mets.com this morning..."Alderson expects offseason to pick up pace"...great move Sandy...after all the decent free agents have been scoured over and already signed. As of today, the Mets are the ONLY team n the league to have not signed a free agent. Our lineup and pitching staff is so stacked I guess Alderson didn't feel the need to make a move. Outfield is going to stink it up this year, as well as the bullpen...again!! I truly am beginning to seriously buy into the fact that until the Wilpons sell this team, we will not win.
