Make that a 3-point lead, with 2 to play. UK only up 2 over Vols midway thru 1st.

Final: Houston 81 - UTEP 73 = This is huge. No, I mean it . . . THIS IS HUGE! Before this game started, UTEP was in, regardless. Houston was out, unless they won, for they had no shot at an at-large bid. But now they get the CUSA automatic, which means they just knocked some other at-large team out of the NCAAs. So they just cost some program . . . hey, maybe YOURS! . . . at least a few hundred thousand dollars. AT LEAST! Like I said, this is HUGE! And it might not be the last one either, so stay tuned.

There must be a cold wind off the Cumberland today, since with less than 4 minutes left in the 1st half, Tennessee's only scored 19 points in Nashville so far. Lucky for them, Kentucky's only scored 25.

Vermont up 6 with 6+ to play, and so far Miami holding tough with Dook . . . but it's early.

At the half: Kentucky 32 - Tennessee 19 = OK shooting by 'Cats, horrid by Vols. Also, Temple 34 - Rhode Island 17, so more of the same here.

With 3 left, Vermont up 8. Dook gets up 5 over 'Canes, 7 left in 1st.

Vermont 83 - Boston U 70 = Welcome to The Dance, American East champs, and enjoy your quick-step.

Tennessee trying to cut into UK's lead, and 'Canes still hanging fairly tough against Blue Devils.

Halftime Report:

Illinois 37 - Ohio State 31 = If the Buckeyes want a shot at stealing a #1-seed at the last minute, they'd better wake up in the 2nd half.

Miami 35 - Duke 32 = Say what? And if Dook wants to hold onto theirs, they'd likely need to win here and at least make the ACC finals. And can you imagine if they don't, if the bottom-feeding Hurricanes meet, say, State for the ACC? Whoa.

Kentucky and Temple about to close out their respective wins, and Duke taking control over Miami in 2nd half. Illini trying to smash Buckeyes' dream, and building a bit on lead in the 2nd.

Final: Temple 57 - Rhode Island 44 = The Owls did not need to advance to the A-10 Finals to get a bid, but likely the Rams did. We'll find out tomorrow.

Halftime: Morgan State 29 - South Carolina State 24 = A close one so far for the Mid-Eastern automatic.

Kentucky 74 - Tennessee 45 = 'Cats get some revenge and spank the Vols like they've too seldomly spanked people so far this season. Did Cal finally get these kids to pay attention for the whole game, or did the Vols just purely suck that bad? Not having seen the game, I'll leave it to one of you to tell me the facts . . . as long as you're not a Wildcat fan.

Yes indeed, Travis. And considering the whuppin' the Jayhawks gave them 10 days ago, they'd better show up early if they want to stay late.
