And Jennifer Connelly made a nice addition. The admirals daughter "Penny" was a single throwaway line in the original. A cool little easter egg hatched decades later.

And it won one Oscar for best sound. Gaga should have won for best song but I'm prejudiced.

Excepting for the combat/training scenes, I thought it was lame. Rehashed the same plot lines with different characters. (People make fun of a person, who turns out to be their instructor.) There were 4 or 5 plot lines that were complete rehashes of the original. Boo. Let the flaming/mocking begin.

I understand the logic, Anthony, but in that case I'd just fire up the original again.

Top Gun is my lady's (IBQTEE1) all time favorite movie, and even she was disappointed with the sequel.
