Who owns Omega and Tag here? Looking to get a new everyday watch. I like a couple Omegas and also see some Tags that have some class. Which brand has more value? I've heard some guys bash Tag for having great marketing but really just a sub par piece/movement.. I don't really know

My wife has an Omega for her everyday watch, it is a great watch, quality in every way, particularly the band. Her's is metal and very comfortable. Tag autos have a little bit of a bad reputation for reliability, I don't believe I would buy one myself, while I'm trying to get my wife to get me an Omega soon. Just my two cents.

I'm leaning towards Omega for an everyday. I've just heard too many bad things about Tag, and frankly I don't see more than 1 or 2 pieces I like from them.

Tag makes some very good watches, although they are not as "elite" as the marketing machine makes them out to be. Their quartz pieces are really just about the Tag name, but their mechanical watches are definitely high mid-range. Omega is a different class altogether, much higher up than Tag. That said, both are quality units so it's hard to go wrong with either choice.

I agree with all of this. THe only Tag I would be interested in is the 1887. It is their first in-house movement in a long time. I think the quality has degraded since the acquisition by Luis Vuitton. Personal opinion though. At least Omega is still a private brand and I *think* they make all of their own movements.

Anyone know when Omega changed the dial layout of the words in their seamaster lign? What I mean is I've seen models with the word "seamaster" directly under the Omega text, and some models have seamaster towards the bottow of the dial.. Seems like older Seamasters have it on the bottom of the dial and the newer releases have it towards the top. Maybe it depends on the actual model of seamaster??

Omega is not private. It's part of the Swatch group. Not that, that is bad, just wanted to clarify.

Omega for me is a much nicer watch in general. Classy pieces for the price range they are in; always hip. Pretty big manufacture facility too.

I just realized that I have a blue watch, blue cutter and blue lighter. This is a bit too much matching for my tastes though so all 3 will not likely have a night out together.

How's that Porsche torch lighter? Porsche Design is generally well made stuff.

In the glass business they say, "If you can't make it good, make it blue." I tend to buy blue as well.

The porsche lighter is relatively new but it does have a few cigar under its belt. Design is solid and fit and finish is nice. The flame is strong and it looks like I will get a nice number of cigars lit on a single fill up (I'm guessing around 8).

I'm not sure it's worth the retail price but I do like it at the lower prices they can found.

Think my parents may get me an Omega Speedmaster 3750.50 for law school graduation this May! I've never asked for a graduation present, and they seem to be buying the idea!

So excited!

This is my Ball Engineer-Hydrocarbon Mad Cow White Dial. I freaking love this watch. Better made than Rolex.

Ball's are cool watches. Considered buying one for years. They look well finished inside and out and the Gas Emitting Tubes are really neat. For whatever reason, the brand hasn't taken off in the USA. Their market seems to be more in Asia-Middle East.
