Try not cutting it next time. One of the things I like about shaggy foots is the flavor change when you hit the wrapper, shows how much flavor is coming from it.

i usually just light it unless it is excessively shaggy, however be careful to watch where the ash falls, could burn your shirt

It was prolly just too tight at the foot. You should have let it burn a little more!
