Excited for tonight's game..... It would be extra sweet, because the guy I help coach the Little One with, is from Chicago and a big 'Hawks fan. He has been reveling in their greatness at practices and games(as he should be)....

Nothing I would enjoy more, than going to practice tomorrow night and nonchalantly asking him how the streak was going.... He is well aware of where my allegiances lie....so on the flip side, I may take a little ribbing myself....

I thought the Avs outplayed them, but that's not the first team to do it, E.J.....somehow, they find a way. Half the abbreviated season done without a regulation loss. Just wow.

NHLPA approves NHL realignment plan
Mike Brehm, USA TODAY Sports6:03p.m. EST March 7, 2013

Executive director Donald Fehr said the NHL Players' Association has given its blessing to the league's realignment plan for next season.

The league, which has needed to make changes to its setup since the Atlanta Thrashers moved to Winnipeg in 2011, will go from the current six-division alignment to four. The Detroit Red Wings and the Columbus Blue Jackets would move to the Eastern Conference and the Winnipeg Jets would move west.

In the Eastern Conference, Detroit would join the Boston Bruins, Buffalo Sabres, Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, Florida Panthers, Tampa Bay Lightning and Ottawa Senators in the Central Division.

Columbus would join the Carolina Hurricanes, Washington Capitals, Pittsburgh Penguins, New Jersey Devils, Philadelphia Flyers, New York Rangers and New York Islanders in the Atlantic.

Winnipeg would join the Chicago Blackhawks, Colorado Avalanche, Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild, Nashville Predators and St. Louis Blues in the Midwest.

That leaves the Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Kings, Phoenix Coyotes, San Jose Sharks, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks in the Pacific.

Fehr said that the new setup would be re-evaluated after the 2014-15 season.

"Our next step will be to bring the proposed plan for realignment to the NHL board of governors for its consideration," deputy commissioner Bill Daly said. "We will update the status of the process as future developments warrant."

I'm bummed the Wings will only be in town once a season, but I understand what the league is trying to do.

Yeah I think there is a chance tonight.
Wondering if Sharks can right the ship before playoffs. Not looking good as they just cant score. Betting some big names finally get moved this summer if they dont get it together.

Pens finally played some inspired hockey for half a game last night, coming back from a 4-1 deficit to beat the Flyer Scum 5-4.
In my thinking, this probably didn't save Dan Bylsma. I think he's gone this year and the only thing keeping him behind the bench is the short season. If he can't engineer his way past the built-to-beat-the-Pens Flyer Scum on a regular basis, it shows a huge weakness in his ability to coach our club.

It's much the same as the Ravens building their club to get through the Steelers. They know they have to go through them to take home the hardware. They've done that successfully. The Pens haven't done that vs. the Flyer Scum.
Last night they got lucky. That ain't gonna get it. We need a couple mentally deranged mucking defensemen, one of which can handle a puck. Ulf Murphy.

I love the Ulf Murphy analogy!

But...I don't think Disco Dan is going anywhere. The Pens D sucked hard for a while, and they are still not where they should be but the Pens have always been great at developing talent and when they can't get what they need that way, they make big trades.

I heard they were interested in Jack Johnson, and several CBJ personel were in Pittsburgh last week. I just wonder who would be involved in that trade!

I'm in, Scott! Lucky or not, good comeback last night for the Pens.

E.J., Sharp is out for 2-4 weeks. Hossa lookis like he will go, it was rumored to be the flu. Shaw is the unknown, I was hoping he would be in and get a chance to return the cheap elbow.

From ESPN. Chicago

Quote:
Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Sharp will miss 3-4 weeks with an upper body injury, but it will not require surgery, the team announced via its Twitter account.

Sharp was injured when he was hit against the boards on Wednesday by the Colorado Avalanche's Ryan O'Byrne. He had to be helped off to the dressing room after suffering what appeared to be a shoulder injury.

The Hawks take on the Avalanche in Denver on Friday as they try to extend their NHL-record streak of consecutive games to start a season with at least one point to 25.

Marian Hossa, who missed Wednesday's game, said he's fine and missing the game had nothing to do with an injury, according to the Hawks Twitter account.

Andrew Shaw also will play Friday after taking an elbow to the chin from Paul Stastny on Wednesday, the Hawks tweeted.
Stasny better keep his head up.
