I think he had a good chance at making the Yankees roster in 2010 if they left the outfield as is. I could have seen Austin in CF, Melky in RF, Gardner in LF with Swisher playing mostly DH and giving a break to the 3 outfielders. The lineup definately looks better with CG though.

Guy hit 4 hrs in triple A last season. I know Reggie has proclaimed him the next big thing, but at best Jackson will be a Granderson type player in 3-5 years. Why not make the deal? The winter meetings have gone very well for the Yanks imo.
Mets offer deals to (shocker) Bengie Molina, and (lets pray) Jason Bay. I was looking for a solid #2 to move everybody down a slot after Johan, but not sure that is going to happen with these deals on the table.

Yes he is. Kevin Long will also be working with him well before spring training on increasing his OBP and cutting down on the K's. Of course he should see a lot of fastballs with Jeter on base in front of him and Teixeira hitting behind him.

Not so fast, Girardi might give up number 28 and let Granderson keep it even though Girardi was gonna wear it to signify the 28th World Championship due to be awarded next Fall.

It's official. After two years of not playing, Barry Bonds' agent is reporting that Barry is retiring from baseball.

I did not like him when he was a skinny kid playing for the Pirates. When he is eligable for the HoF in a few years the debates are going to take over the sports world. I am looking forward to no Bonds talk for a few years until then.

Too funny...Mets going after Jason Bay. He came up with the Mets...think maybe they regret letting him go years ago?

Philly letting Cliff Lee go for Halladay? I gotta say this is a bonehead move...pay Lee what he wants. He was money for you this year.

I can see the reasoning if they felt like they were not going to be able to resign him after this year. They will have Doc for the next 4 years nows and they keep their #1 pitching prospect.
The other news is that Lackey and the Red Sox are close to a deal and the Red Sox have made an offer to the Cuban defector.

But Drabek is part of the deal...I just don't see their reasoning. They just don't want to wrap a whole ton of money into Lee.

That's a change from what I heard earlier then. It still could fall apart and the Yankees get him.

I don't mind the way the trade is looking. Philly with Lee and Halladay would be quite scary. Philly with just Halladay makes them a little bit better, but not considerably so.
The other moves don't bother me so much. Lackey going to Boston was actually a bit of a relief, rather him than Halladay. He's a very good pitcher but not a great one imho. The Yankees can hit him. And I think they are crazy giving him a bigger contract than what Burnett got, he's not as good as AJ. Cameron is old and no Bay or Holliday. He's past his prime, I hope he becomes Bostons everyday left fielder ![]()
