Perhaps that is true however if it is then the fallout he is experiencing should be a total shock to him. He has lost quite a bit because of his behavior. I think he is likely genuine in his smugness, arrogance, and distaste for everything lower than him.

I understand the emotion, but your lady might not want to live without you for 6 months....not to mention the civil suit that would follow.
