I went with SD, seemed right because it is on the coast.

But when I think of SD I think of the beach, when I think of LA I think of the city.
Marina Del Rey, El Sugundo and others are in between LA and the ocean.
San Diego is actually on the bay, so I guess neither are really "on" the ocean.
