Sorry Brad but your cam footage cannot be admitted as evidence in most cases. If you are in the accident it may or may not be useful. Dash cams are ok for posting up the idiots on a website but not as evidence in court.
![]() You can check with your local District Attorney and ask if this applies to your jurisdiction. |

In some states like Florida you cant videotape another person without their consent. As I said, its best to consult the local authorities on the do's and dont's.

Interesting. I wonder what private investigators do in Florida.
For dashcam footage I think you could probably get around that issue by arguing that you are not videotaping "that specific person" but the general area around your car. You would not need consent of a person to video tape the direction of travel of your car, because you are not singling out that person. However, I'm not a Florida lawyer so I can't say with specificity. In Colorado, so long as the person is in public view, you can video until your heart's content. NO AUDIO, but video is fine. Sorry for the hijack. We now return to your regularly scheduled thread.

Video taping in FL is indeed an issue, unless there is law enforcement involvement such as when in my business, we are doing surveilance for criminal activity.
However, taping someone on your property for home video protection is fine. I thought of getting one of these cams a while ago but not until it is allowed and can be relied on as evidence. I think it is a must nowadays if your state allows it. You can also take it abroad, such as in Europe, where I believe the only country that doesn't allow it is Austria.
