Do you dump ash or just keep tamping?

I don't dump or tamp on a regular basis...

However, if my bowl isn't smoking right, I'll tamp and relight.

I only dump at the end, and never earlier.

I keep the ash at least half way, but after a while it can be detrimental to the cause and I'll dump it out for the last bit of the bowl

I'll only dump the ashes if I'm having a hard time keeping the bowl lit.
