how do you light up a cigar?

I get the outside of the foot toasted/lit all the way around then puff straight on with the lighter a inch away from the foot to get the rest going.

That's the method I use too. I use matches when indoors and a Bic when outside. Could be my imagination but for me a torch can cause a bit of harshness in smoking the first half inch or so. Just my

My wife loves the torch lighter though and has no complaints so could be it's just me.
