I put a speck on the tracks, not any on the blade.

Wouldn't want to engage in any risky behavior like putting unsafe stuff in my lungs for heaven's sake!!

Yeah, I would not risk smoking graphite powder. That thing is terribly bad for your lungs. I would suggest the Q-tip and rubbing alcohol.
