I saw a video at Cigar Af's website that explains that the band is to hold onto while smoking it since he says that the leaves are "delicate". He says that they are going to patent it. Interesting, I guess that they felt this was the next step in their evolution of cigar bands.

Apparenly it's not so delicate that you can't air drive a lug nut onto it.
