I balked a little too when AT&T announced their new data plans. But then I breathed a sigh of relief when I found out that current unlimited plans were grandfathered in
 Echo tethers her iPad to her iPhone 4 so our data usuage will be fairly high I'm sure. |

AT&T does charge extra for tethering, which I don't understand as you've already paid for the data to begin with. However, if you do go the Jailbreak route there's an app called MyWi that does the trick
