Brugal Rum 12 years siglo del oro

I am back from Dominican Republic and bought a bottle of Brugal rum 12 Years old apparently the best they have (I know nothing about rum). I did not tasted it yet. Is this a good rum? I am new to cigars also. Any recommendation of cigars to go with it?Thanks for your thought.

Is 50$ Us for this bottle was expensive? (I am from Canada... )
